Frantzén raises awareness about childhood diabetes with a dinner created by star chefs

On the evening of the 14th November, the World Diabetes Day Dinner is being created at Frantzén by chefs from around the world to draw attention to childhood diabetes. A total of 10 chefs from 5 restaurants will be gathering together to create a tasting menu together with Björn Frantzén and his team. All the visiting restaurants have been awarded two or three stars in the Michelin Guide and the surplus from the dinner will go to the Swedish Child Diabetes Foundation.

– It was only when my daughter got diabetes at the age of three that I understood the severity of the disease, says chef and restaurateur Björn Frantzén. Our family was forced to re-evaluate everything, not least our food which then took on a whole new meaning to us. With the dinner at Frantzén, together with incredible international colleagues, we want to make a contribution to the vital research into childhood diabetes.

After his daughter’s diagnosis, Björn Frantzén began to develop dishes especially for diabetics. This resulted in a complete cookbook, which came out in Sweden earlier this autumn. The dinner on the 14th November will also be the third time that Frantzén hosts a World Diabetes Day Dinner. The chefs coming to Stockholm to help out in this year’s event are:

Sergio Herman from The Jane in Antwerp
Brett Graham from The Ledbury in London
Esben Holmboe Bang from Maaemo in Oslo
Richard Ekkebus from Amber in Hong Kong
Sean Gray from Momofuku Ko in New York

The World Diabetes Day dinner at Frantzén costs 10 000 SEK/pp and consists of a tasting menu in which signature dishes from all the chefs are represented. The cost includes all beverages, from champagne and wine to coffee and avec.
